Deer are legal in my state. How? Glock 23. Deer is legal in my state. 40 S&W shot through a minimum 4 inch barrel is considered deer medicine where I live. Add to that the ability to shoot a .40 out of a carbine, and the joy increases with every pound of energy you ask for from a longer barrel.

What can you do to target a deer with a .40 S&W around these parts? Because it is powerful in itself. The use of the law may have been at its peak a few years ago, but that doesn't take the shine off the pumpkin.

It is still a good stop and (through the deer statues) a good stop for deer too. Many law enforcement agencies used (or used) the .40 S&W, most notably the FBI, before returning to the 9mm. It has lost grace, but the 40 S&W is still very effective. Let's take a quick look at the cartridge and then examine the gun.

Whence cometh? 40 S&W came about when the FBI (who had adopted the 10mm cartridge) asked Smith & Wesson to drop the 10mm bit. The full-port 10mm was the real team and so they wanted something more officers could shoot effectively. It is very important, especially if you are in your forties. Honestly, I've never owned a .40 pistol or carbine. I don't have anything against the round - it's just that I shoot, throw bullets and reload 9mm and .45 ACP. I didn't see the need to get a .40 with "books" around it on the shelf. I have often thought about getting a .40 and maybe I will in the future. If I do, the reload dies and the shape button will be next in the list.

Carrying a gun that emits exactly 400 (or more) feet of energy will give one confidence. This is true, especially if the weapon was not large, easy to carry, and could hold a dozen or more rounds in the magazine. I think part of the fall of the 40 is that the ballistic evolution of the 9 mm cartridge really took off. It's not exactly earth-shaking, but it's interesting to some. Some people carry 5-point shooters that don't seem to care about the ability. Knowing where to place your images can pay for lower cartridge yields.

However, if you go the other way, it turns out that the .40 S&W magazine you have in your gun can hold one or more rounds than a .45 ACP pistol. In the same magazine comparison as above, the Glock model 22 in .40 full size has two more rounds in its magazine size than the Glock model 21 in .45 full size ACP, 15 to 13.
As a .45 fan, this isn't exactly comforting news, but (as they say) it is what it is. The bottom line for me is that it's amazing that you can even have 13 .45 ACP rounds available for carrying guns, not counting the extra magazine and chamber. Faculty plays a major role in the selection process. But the .40 is still a good choice. It sits in the middle between the 9mm and the .45 ACP and, as Goldilocks observed, the middle may be the best place.
This is one thing that you should not immediately think about when it comes to the quality of the meeting. If you buy a .357 sig barrel for your model 23, you now have a gun in that race. Your .40 publication trails work as a .357 Sig based on the .40 case.
At worst, the follower configuration can cause a potential problem, so you need to take a copy of the 32 magazine. Another race that 23 can easily be converted to 9mm. Buy a conversion barrel for about a hundred dollars and some model 19 magazines and you're now dealing with a 9mm with what essentially becomes a model 19 that says "23" on the slide. It is therefore believed that you can have three guns for the price of one initial gun purchase and some aftermarket parts.

If the ease of changing the quality isn't enough to make 23 attractive, then I don't know what is. That's quite an interesting possibility - one gun, three calibers.
.40 What you know you are not shooting 22 . Recoil is usually described as a RAPID, especially in a lighter pistol. If we remember that the .40 is down to 10mm, the chisel is expandable. When you push a 180 grain bullet to velocities just south of 1000 fps, there are some jump related kickbacks.
You are talking about 400 ft/lbs of energy, like some lower .357 loads. I said above how this round of deer is right in the state, and I can see why. The 10mm will do everything better than the .40 when it comes to hunting, but in terms of concealed carry and personal defense (more on self defense insurance), I can see where the .40 has an advantage over the 10mm.
The 10mm bounce is really snappy (at least the ones I shot), so I have a harder time recovering. He tends to pursue more difficult shots in a fast passive mode that stops the timer. I know there are some of you who ask for the 10mm, and that's fine, but for most of us shooters it's a box.

Now we see the connection between the 10mm and the .40 S&W is shocking. This 10 will be more, but .40 in light guns will also satisfy.

And your arrow hands will quickly know the difference.
If you are carrying a .40 caliber, you should carefully train with a variety of loads designed for self-defense. And don't send one magazine and go to your house. The .40 needs a little extra work in the training department due to the increased recoil over the 9mm. But if you take the time, not all shooters will achieve something: a tame .40 is enough to carry.
Now don't get the impression that I think 40 is overkill. It takes a little more time to get going with it if you're firing from a smaller type of gun like a glock 23. It's worth getting the hang of the gun anyway.

This 23 seemed accurate for the handful of shots I took with it. I've said it before: Glocks are generally better than average in accuracy.
The 23 is slightly smaller than the 22, with two less magazine capacity compared to the 22. So it can be a good choice for a concealed carry pistol. The standard 13-round capacity makes it more than enough for most situations, and the small handling strikes a solid balance between full-size and sub-compact handguns. You'll have smaller than full size guns when you carry it, but you can always use full size magazines if you prefer - they might stick out a bit. It is still a simple and reliable and accurate .40 small pistol option.
